you pay my dear...nothing is comped as far as alcohol...unless you count the watered down drinks at the Captains party...oh well...A grand time is had by all...cheers...hiccup
Actually all my drinks were comped in the casino last summer on the Legend. They also had a bottle of champaign waiting at my table for dinner as well.
Of course the the fact I had wired $20k into my casino account prior to the trip probably had something to do with it.
I've been on over 40 cruises and seen pit bosses comp drinks on 4 occasions. I was on the Norwegian Spirit and one of the players talked up the pit boss and asked if they comped drinks. His drinks were free that night, but not other nights. I've seen very high rollers comped drinks on two occasions and I've once seen a pit boss comp a whole table for a drink when the dealer had to pull back the cards and re-deal.
There's nothing wrong with being friendly to the pit bosses and asking if they comp drinks. After all, you're in a casino...gamble...
I just completed a cruise of 21 days on Nov 25, 2006. Drinks were given out freely to gamblers, including slot players! I play 21, with perfect "basic strategy", but not slots. They were quite careful to give the free drinks to gamblers, which included me,...and not those just standing around. Also, even though I am a non-smoker, I found out that cigarettes were given away as well. All the gambler had to do was ask for them.
if you want free drinks on any carinval owned ship, which includes carinval, holland america, princess, p&o, seaborn and windstar.
you must play a minimum $25 dollars per hand for an hour to get one beer... this is how tight carnival are. they wont give out a few free drinks even though they make millions.
if you are a black action player. $100 dollers per hand all drinks a free.
but you must sign up to the ocean players club, do this before you go on your cruise.
this is not the rule of the pit boss boss or manager. it is all down to carnival. if you want any questions answered about the casino or policys on carnival owned ship you can ask me. i worked in them.
On our Alaska cruise aboard Holland America I spent a little time in the casino.
One night I was winning and tipping big (and buying drinks).
After a while the employees started buying me drinks.
The drinks were not comped...I saw them actually pay the server.

On our NCL Spirit cruise I spent a small fortune in the casino. My husband was standing around watching me play blackjack and chatting with the pit boss......twice the fellow bought my husband a beer.....hmph!...and I was the one donating to the casino!

Interesting idea... Maybe you wouldn't actually have play through all that stake. Just send the money, get comped, play modestly, and then collect the balance at the end. 'Course, if onboard casinos are as good at tracking patrons as land-based casinos, you'd probably get away with doing that approximately once. ;-)

You mean the money's not coming out of the same pot?

We just came back from Carnival Fascination....not only did the casino host buy us drinks 2 nights during the cruise, but I got a $50 casino credit one night and $75 credit another night. I'd built up alot of points on my ocean player's card and they must have seen how much I lost!
