Default Zuiderdam internet service

I have heard that this ship now offers wireless access for those who bring their lap tops, but I have not heard what if any is the charge for the access code to log on with? Does any one know what the HAL policy is for wireless access?

I believe it's the same as their regular internet service - it isn't free.

I think it's $3.95 to sign on and then so much a minute thereafter - they also have internet packages.

Thanks, at least it's not in Euros my last cruise the Internet was so slow it was about 5 euros before you were even connected. I was thinking it was like a daily charge or something, how can they tell how long you are connected when it's your own computer and there isn't that little clock monitoring your time?

Because you have to log in and out each time you use it. It's no different than using one of their computers.

Now, if you are just using Word and not logging in, then there's no charge. A lot of people will write their report or e-mail or whatever in Word and then log in and send it through their e-mail.

Let me tell you, the internet is often very slow depending where the ship is, so don't expect it to be as fast as you have at home if you are on high speed. It's more like, low, low speed.

Everything you pay for on the ship is in US$'s. The charge for using the internet will go on your bill.

There are hot spots on the ship, one of course being where the Terminals are, and there is one on the Lido pool area and other spots. I think (not for sure) you open you browser and connect to a particular IP address they give you that takes you into the same server the terminals are using. The charge is the same as it is using their terminals, but you have the freedom of movement. And yeah, it will, in many cases, remind you of the good old dialup days.

Packages are available:

100 minutes for $55 plus one time start up charge of $3.95
250 minutes for $100 plus same start up charge.

If you sign up the first day of the cruise, you will get some bonus minutes.......maybe ten, I don't remember.

Thanks for the info, I guess it's a good thing I will not be checking in with work all that much. Just alittle freaked out that it's such a busy time and I will be gone for 21 days.....

Look for Internet Cafes in Ports. Ask the stewards. They usually know where there are cafes near where the ship docks that have inexpensive rates.
