Wow, that's a heck of a savings. I've been looking at those cabins. I love the idea. I hope you'll let us know how you liked it.

Those sound great Kevin. Let us know.

They sound like the old single tourist hotel rooms in Europe.

Let's just say, if nothing else it will give you a new experience. I don't mean that in a negative way at all. To me even 3000 passengers is too many, but I still will give the Epic a try one of these days (probably next year) just to say we did it..

Definitely let me know... we are taking a cruise on the Epic in August... and we're getting married! My mom, who is single, wants to be there... so she is considering the studio cabin. Looks cool in the photos, but not sure...

I would be interested as well, as I booked a studio cabin for the Oct 9th cruise yesterday. Looking forward to hearing feedback on the Epic. By the way this will be my first NCL cruise.

I think you will have a great time on Epic. However, I don't think you can compare Epic & Oasis. You are not comparing apples to apples. As a matter of fact, as of today, there isn't any other ship like Oasis (IMHO).
Oasis has so many different venues. I absolutely LOVED Oasis, but we are sailing on Epic next February. As long as I go into it knowing I cannot compare one ship to the other, I know I'll have a great time on Epic. I'm so anxious to see Epic....the new room designs and the entertainment look awesome. I love the Studio concept......NCL was so smart to implement this category of cabin. I think it will prove to be a great idea.
I'll be very interested to read your review!

exactly, just because you cancel one doesn't mean you can't go back. I personally think Epic is a better idea for singles - price-wise and configuration. Those new cabins for singles are going to be the best in the industry (for singles)

I love the idea of single cruisers not having to pay the suppliment fee for the studio cabins.

As I stated in another post. NCL should reserve a few cabins on all of its ships for single cruisers, and not add the extra charges. More singles would be able to cruise affordably.

Do you know Paul Motter if the cabins on the 12th deck Studio are only accessible by the stairs from the 11th deck...
I find this very strange but I was told this by NCL employee
I have booked cabin 12565 and the person said I can only get to the cabin via the stairs and not the aft elevator which the cabin is opposite.
Thanks confused and worried re my cruise I have booked:eek:

I know the Studio cabins are selling very fast so much so that almost all are already booked before the EPIC goes to Europe in May 2011.

Paul,

On this I don't agree with the idea that NCL Epic's Studios are cheaper than an average Inside Cabin on RCCL's Freedom Class ships. The Freedom Class is the most comparable to Epic and even with a single sup, Royal is still a cheaper option, with a larger cabin. I made this point on the "Epic Crossing" thread, however I should restate this. I believe the whole idea that a Studio on the Epic being a more cost effective choice, than other lines; is nothing but an Urban Myth.

I am hoping someone writes an "in depth" review of the solo cabins, lounge, activities for solos and the whole "solo experience" for their week on the EPIC - I found everything else on-line except that! I live in Miami and I see the EPIC every weekend and the temptation to go solo on it is getting stronger

I just did the exact same thing.......I'm now thinking that I was blinded thinking that I just HAD to go on the Oasis, or Allure, but when I really look at the cost, the cool room, the great solo lounge, the amazing food options and the entertainment, it is a no brainer to me.......I'm so psyched to be going on The Epic............

gkbii,
Thank you for posting this comment. It just arose my curiosity, so I went online and searched myself. Here are my findings:

RCC
Ship: Freedom
Time: 2nd week of Nov 2011
Deck: 7
Cabin: Interior (No "connecting" room), but a cabin on other side of it.
Price: $1303.11

NCL
Ship: Epic
Time: 2nd week of Nov 2011
Deck: 11
Cabin: Studio (No "connecting" room), corner cabin, only one side neighbor.
Price: $1108.46

My findings make me feel like it's not that big of a difference, all depending on the features that best suite a person on each ship. Some people go for entertainment, others for space, others for food, others decor, etc.

In this comparison, RCC offers more space, a hair dryer, etc., for a little more money. So you get what you pay for. Personally, I'm in the NY Metro area so I get great entertainment here. I prefer the Sun for my Nov cruise, so a small cabin would be fine. But who's to say what kind of either I'll get. *shrug*

I still haven't decided which I'm going to do, but I do feel better informed. It's a particular risk either way.

Ciao!
